What qualifies a training provider to work in the Housing sector?
7th February 2022
We’ve been reflecting a lot recently on what it means to be a trusted training provider to the Housing sector.
It’s a sector that’s really important to us – not only because of the importance of housing associations in supporting those in need of most help within our society – but because our two parent companies happen both to be housing associations. Futures Housing Group and Nottingham Community Housing Association took the decision to buy Access Training in 2014, recognising early on that investing in a training company would help promote the social values of their own organisations, and help build a better future through qualifications for people across our region.
This in-depth knowledge of Housing at our Board level filters down to every element of our training programme delivery, ensuring that we offer what housing associations want. In the Housing sector alone, we’ve helped over 450 apprentices achieve their qualifications over the last 4 years, and there’s a common theme running throughout. Our Employer clients across the UK tell us they appreciate the flexibility of our model and our knowhow. Our Learners tell us they feel supported and that their trainer assessors are always on hand to guide, encourage, and provide feedback.
We asked some of our Housing clients why they chose to work with Access as their training provider. Steffan Beange, Customer Experience Team Leader, at emh, explained their original decision, “Access was by far the strongest performer on knowledge of the sector, understanding of our requirements and building a strong working relationship with us from the off, as well as the flexibility of their delivery model.”
Steffan’s view on how well Access Training compares to other training providers is echoed by Allison Whadcoat, Senior L&D Advisor at NCHA, “Whilst other providers are unquestionably professional, the relationship doesn’t compare to the one we enjoy with Access. Closer working on our particular challenges, more regular communication and a sounding board when we need it.”
Steffan and Allison are not alone. Our customer satisfaction rate of 100% and a Learner satisfaction rate of 94% both out-perform the national average.
As well as our Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 and Housing Property Management Level 2, 3 and 4 apprenticeships (plus our newly-launched CIH Level 5 Housing Management stand-alone qualification), we offer apprenticeships in Business Administration, Customer Service and Team Leader/ Supervisor apprenticeships. It means we can support housing associations across so many different functions.
