Update on January 2021 re-opening
31st December 2020
Following the latest updates from the government yesterday, we can announce the following change to classes:
Study programme classes will be delivered remotely from the 4 – 8th January with face-to-face teaching resuming on Monday 11th January. This is being done as a precautionary measure and to bring us in to line with other further educational institutions such as colleges.
Routine testing of learners will not be taking place at any independent training providers and Access Training is no different. If a learner or staff member becomes ill or starts to display covid-19 symptoms whilst on site, we do have a small number of testing kits available which can be issued if there is no other alternative, however, tests will not to be carried out on site.
Apprenticeship delivery is not affected by this announcement and so any scheduled face-to-face sessions will still be going ahead.
We will be contacting all affected learners as soon as possible to confirm arrangements for remote delivery and the return to classes from Monday 11th January when we hope to be able to welcome back all learners to classes at Access Training.
We have worked hard to ensure our buildings remain a safe space for learners, visitors and staff. In line with government guidance we have implemented changes to room layouts, walkways and introduced additional hygiene and cleaning measures.
Our risk assessments remain under regular review and Access Training will continuing to be asking all learners, visitors and staff to wear masks in corridors and communal areas in our Nottingham and Derby Centres. Learners and staff will not be expected to wear masks in the classroom although they may do so if they choose.
For apprentices and work-based learners, essential face-to-face visits will continue with the agreement of employers and following their safety measures but the majority of teaching and assessment sessions will continue to be done remotely.
Access Training takes the threat of Covid-19 very seriously and is following the latest government guidance for employers and educational settings to make sure we protect our learners and staff. Please be assured that the wellbeing of learners, staff and our employers is our first priority and we are taking these steps to both protect everyone and ensure that learning can continue with as few disruptions as possible.
