What is a Traineeship?Traineeships are a great opportunity to support a young person in improving by offering them valuable experience with your business and a chance to develop their Maths and English skills. They typically run for six to eight weeks.
Who pays for a Traineeship? There is no cost to taking on a trainee, although you can choose to make a contribution towards the learner’s meal allowance and travel. In fact, you will be able to claim a £1,000 incentive payment after the successful completion of the young person’s work experience. What happens at the end of the Traineeship?
Traineeships are a proven way to give young people (between the ages of 16 and 24) the skills and opportunity they need to be ready for work. They give you time to really assess the benefit a candidate brings to your business and whether they should be offered an Apprenticeship with you (you may qualify for a cash incentive or Government support for taking on an apprentice). “If the traditional interview process leaves you unconvinced by a candidate, consider giving them a chance through a traineeship. This longer spell of work experience – available to your business at no cost – gives you the opportunity to really get to know whether a candidate is suitable for an apprenticeship or employment. It means nervous candidates get the opportunity to shine, and that you don’t lose out on someone who could turn out to be a real asset to your team.” Tina Holmes – Stan’s Pals Pet Shop and Groomers – View case study |

To anyone who is interested in a career in Nursing but who doesn’t have qualifications in the required school subjects, I would highly recommend an apprenticeship. Valuable on-the-job learning each and every day, and the bonus of being paid for the privilege! View case study
