Learner case study: Chloe Sadler
Chloe Sadler
Chloe is 23 years old and studying on our Customer Services Apprenticeship through her employer Nottingham City Council Housing Services. Here she shares her apprenticeship journey which is helping to accelerate her potential.
How did you find this apprenticeship?
“I went to a careers fair and spoke to the careers advisor at Nottingham City Council about the apprenticeships they had available. I was really interested so I went online and applied for a few of them!
“I went along for an interview and soon realised my skills were better suited to the Customer Services Apprenticeship. I started in September 2023 and I’m due to finish in December 2024.”
What qualifications did you have?
“I had completed my GCSEs and a Business Administration course at college.
“I have also worked in customer-facing roles, so I had the required experience and confidence for the role.”
What does your job entail?
“I work in the Business Services team in Housing and we strive to deliver excellent levels of customer service to all our residents. I talk to customers on a daily basis and organise appointments and repairs in their home. I have enjoyed the journey so far and really happy with the skills and knowledge I am gaining.”
What support do you have?
“I feel supported by my team and my manager. They have all been very supportive in providing feedback and assisting me in my development. The apprentice advisor also checks in regularly with me.
“There are other apprenticeships here working in different areas of the business, and we get together and share our experiences. We worked together during National Apprenticeship Week to organise some events and games to get the rest of the business involved. The CEO came along with the local MP too which was fantastic!”
How is the apprenticeship helping you in your role?
“The studying I am doing with Access Training is helping with my daily tasks. I gather evidence to present in my assignments. It feels really good to be learning on the job.
“I volunteer as an East Midlands Apprentice Ambassador to help raise awareness of apprenticeships at careers fairs and events. It feels great to inspire others by sharing my direct experience of being an apprentice.”
What does your future look like?
“I am really enjoying the apprenticeship and hope that this qualification will provide me with the skills to secure a permanent position at Nottingham City Council.”
