Access Training welcomes new Competence and Conduct Standard for social housing professional

Following this week’s announcement from Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook MP, Access Training welcomes the introduction of the new Competence and Conduct Standard for staff working in social housing.

Coming into force in October 2026, the standard will set new expectations for professionalism and qualifications across the sector. Larger registered providers (1,000+ homes) will have three years to meet the new requirements, with four years for smaller providers.

We’re already receiving enquiries from employers about how to prepare and we’re ready to help.

Corrina Hembury, Managing Director added: “We’re proud to be an approved study centre for the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and ready to support employers with flexible training routes to help staff meet the new qualification requirements.”

We’re here to talk, whether you’re planning ahead for your senior housing managers, looking at Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications or top-up units, or just starting to explore your options.

Get in touch to speak to our team about how we can support your people to meet the standard.
