Georgia’s story: From Apprentice to Deputy Manager in Early Years Education
Georgia Wright – Level 3 Early Years Educator
When Georgia first started her journey in early years education, she never imagined just how far an apprenticeship could take her. Today, she’s not only thriving in her career but also mentoring the next generation of apprentices.
After leaving Bilborough College with A-levels in Dance, Dance and Performance, Georgia initially pursued a Level 3 Gym Instructor course to build confidence in teaching. This experience sparked a passion for working with young children, leading her to take on a dance teaching role for under-5s. Realising her love for early years education, she applied for an Early Years Apprenticeship at her local pre-school, a decision that would shape her future.

A supportive apprenticeship experience
Georgia credits her apprenticeship with Access Training for providing the strong foundation she needed in childcare:
“I received outstanding support from my tutor, Olivia, at Access Training. The support I received made my time on the apprenticeship course go smoothly and stress-free. There was never a time where I felt I couldn’t approach Olivia with any concerns or questions.”
Through hands-on experience, Georgia gained the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills required to thrive in an early years setting. Her apprenticeship not only helped her develop professionally but also inspired her to support others in the same way:
“The support I received from Olivia, I now mirror when I mentor our next apprentices at our workplace.”

From apprentice to leader
Since completing her apprenticeship in July 2020, Georgia has continued to advance her career. She completed a Level 3 Forest School Leader course in December 2022, which deepened her understanding of outdoor learning. She also launched her own dance school in April 2021, teaching children during the pandemic.
Determined to keep learning, she pursued a Level 5 Childcare qualification, which she completed in August 2024. This drive and commitment led her to take the next big step, applying to university for a degree in Childhood Studies, which she is set to complete in August 2025.
Throughout her journey, Georgia has remained with the same early years setting where she started her apprenticeship, working her way up to become Deputy Manager. She acknowledges the incredible support from her workplace in helping her achieve these milestones:
“The setting is very supportive, and I wouldn’t have been able to do any of the additional courses without them.”
