Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship

From retail to a rewarding career in early years
Before starting her apprenticeship, Emma was working as a Retail Supervisor, with a varied career that also included experience as a private nanny. Although she had always been interested in moving into a nursery setting, she found it difficult to take the next step.

“I’d always fancied moving into a nursery setting, however I couldn’t find a position because I didn’t have a qualification, and I struggled to gain the necessary qualifications because I already had a degree in a different field.”

Emma’s situation, who is 37 is one many adult learners face, keen to change careers but unsure how to access the right training. The Early Years Educator Level 3 apprenticeship provided the perfect route, allowing her to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

A supportive learning experience
Throughout her apprenticeship, Emma developed the skills and confidence needed to succeed in an early year’s environment. She found the programme engaging, practical, and well-structured to support her development on the job.

“I found the apprenticeship extremely interesting and well structured, enabling me to undertake my role at the nursery to the highest standard possible.”

Emma also credits the guidance from her Trainer Assessor, Olivia, as a key part of her success.

“Olivia was always available to provide support and guidance. She gave constructive feedback on my work, ensuring I was completely ready for my end point assessments.”

Her hard work paid off, achieving a Distinction, demonstrating both her commitment and the effectiveness of the apprenticeship route.

Looking ahead
After completing her apprenticeship, Emma has remained with Bright Sparks Private Day Nursery, continuing to build her career in early years education.

Now established in her role, she is also supporting others starting their journey.

“I’m still at the same setting that I completed my apprenticeship at, and I try to give back by offering advice and guidance to current apprentices through my own experiences.”

Emma feels confident about her future and the opportunities ahead.

“I now feel that the possibilities are endless. For now, I’m happy to keep learning through day-to-day interactions with children and colleagues and opening myself to a world of possibilities.”
