CIH Level 2 Certificate in Housing Practice

The CIH Level 2 Certificate in Housing Practice is designed for those new to the sector. This qualification provides a solid foundation in housing, equipping you with essential skills and knowledge to succeed.

With the Social Housing (Regulation) Act, senior managers and executives must now hold a professional housing qualification. Housing providers need to invest in developing their teams more than ever.

What does the qualification cover?
The qualification provides an introduction to housing and is suitable for individuals who are new to the housing sector. The course includes four units and they can expect to learn the following;

​Housing Provision and Housing Organisations
The unit aims to provide knowledge and understanding of how housing is provided. Learners will consider different types of landlords, the range of services they offer, how they finance housing and the relationship between landlord and tenant.

​Customer Service for Housing
The unit aims to provide knowledge and understanding of customer service including equality and diversity and an awareness of the needs of different customers within the housing context. 

Professional Development in Housing
The unit aims to provide an understanding of different roles within a housing context and the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to fulfil them. The learner will also explore their personal and professional development.

Assets, Repairs and Maintenance
The unit aims to provide knowledge and understanding of main types of dwellings and how they are maintained and repaired.

Entry requirements
It may be beneficial if learners:

​✓   Have previously studied at Level 1 or 2 and be helpful if they have experience of working in the hosing sector. 

✓   Be confident using IT and have access to a computer.
