Amy’s Journey from Nursery Practitioner to Future Social Worker
At Access Training, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our learners, and during National Apprenticeship Week, we’re delighted to share Amy’s inspiring story.
Amy began her journey with us at just 17 years old, joining Tiny Robins Day Nursery as an apprentice and enrolling on the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship. From the very start, Amy showed dedication, resilience and a real passion for working with children. Building on her success at Level 2, Amy progressed to the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship, completing the programme with a well‑deserved Distinction. Alongside this, she also achieved her Functional Skills Maths Level 2, strengthening her confidence and widening her future opportunities. During her apprenticeship, Amy worked at Tiny Robins for four years, growing in skill and maturity while also overcoming significant personal barriers. Having been in care as a young child, Amy’s experiences shaped her determination to build a career focused on supporting others. When social services reconnected her with her father, Amy found stability and from there, she committed herself to making a positive difference for children and families. Her trainer, Helen, shared how proud she is of Amy’s journey and the progress she’s made throughout both apprenticeships. Today, Amy has taken the next big step toward her dream career. She has now progressed to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Social Work at the University of Derby, a four‑year degree that will prepare her to qualify as a social worker. Her long‑term goal is clear: to support children and families who may be going through experiences similar to her own. Amy’s story is a powerful reminder of where an apprenticeship can lead. With the right support, meaningful workplace experience and a strong belief in what’s possible, learners can open doors to new opportunities and future careers they are passionate about. We’re incredibly proud of everything Amy has achieved and we can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make in the years ahead. |
