NVQ Level 3 Is it for me?
If you are already working as a Teaching Assistant, with
responsibilities for managing class pupils in the teacher’s
absence, curriculum planning from schemes of work and
assisting with setting up classrooms to promote inclusive
learning, Access Training can help you achieve a City and
Guilds qualification and improve your skills and knowledge.
You will need to be working with pupils in a school for a
minimum of 12 hours per week in paid employment.
What does the course involve?
The Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools NVQ Level 3
includes the following units:
- Help to keep children safe
- Support pupils learning
activities
- Promote positive behaviour
- Develop and promote positive
relationships
- Support the development and
effectiveness of work teams
- Reflect on and develop practice
Plus further 4 optional units
relevant to your role.
How long does it last?
Up to 9 months
Where will I learn?
You will learn in the workplace and will also need to
attend sessions to gain the underpinning knowledge for
your qualification. Your trainer assessor will visit you
in your work place and guide you through the
qualification. How will I
be assessed?
You will be assessed through observation of work based
practical tasks, questioning and through a portfolio of
written evidence. What
does this lead to?
You can progress to a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
course at Level 4 or a Foundation Degree.
