Is it for me?
If you are new to the role of a Teaching Assistant or want to start a career as a Teaching Assistant, Access Training
can help you achieve a City and Guilds qualification and improve your skills and knowledge. As a Teaching Assistant,
you will be supporting teaching and learning in either a primary or secondary school, working with individual pupils
or a small group. You will be guided by the teacher in order to support pupils in all areas of the curriculum. You will
need to be working or volunteering in a school for a minimum of 12 hours per week.
How long does it last?
Up to 9 months
Where will I learn?
You will learn in the workplace and may also need to attend some evening sessions. You will have your own trainer
assessor who will visit you in your work place and guide you through the qualification.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through observation of work based practical tasks, questioning and through a portfolio of
written evidence.
What does this lead to?
You can become a qualified Teaching Assistant and progress to a QCF Level 3.
