NEW CLINICAL HEALTH ASSISTANT APPRENTICE SELECTED TO SPEAK IN LONDON
One of the brand new Clinical Health
Apprentices who only started with the NHS in November 2009,
has so impressed her bosses that she has been selected to
speak at their national conference in London later this
month.
Nursing has always been an option that
Ashton Bradley-Wall wanted to pursue, and now the former
Redhill student has found a new way to pursue her dream
through an Apprenticeship.
After starting a Childcare Apprenticeship
whilst working at a nursery in Gedling, Ashton knew she
loved the practical elements of the course but wanted to
broaden her knowledge and realised that she really wanted to
work with adults.
The advert she saw in September 2009
grabbed her attention. Was this the opportunity she had been
waiting for? Her interview at Access Training confirmed that
it was; she completed her induction the following month and
is now employed as a trainee Clinical Health Apprentice at
The West Bridgford Health Centre and Lings Bar Hospital.
She loves the work, particularly the
community visits with the District Nurses and has so
impressed the NHS Workforce Planning Manager, Jackie
Brocklehurst, that she will be one of the first of these new
type of clinical apprentices to share her experiences at the
conference.
She told Access Training’s Nicky McNulty,
“I feel so proud to be asked to speak at the NHS conference.
The apprenticeship is wonderful; I get to work with
different professionals and meet individuals from different
backgrounds. I am learning so many different skills and
especially enjoy phlebotomy. The practical experiences I
have had has definitely made me realise that I want to apply
for my Nurse training once I have completed my
apprenticeship”.
Ashton told the conference in February
how, from an early age, she had set her heart on caring for
others and that she now felt one step closer to having a
future career as a frontline worker. The conference was told
that Nottingham Community Health currently has 31
apprentices working across its services and that the NCH are
committed to helping them all succeed.
