Childcare QCF Level 3
Is it for me?
If you want to work or volunteer with babies, toddlers and young people, learn about how they develop, the importance
of play and curriculum planning, this course will give you the vocationally recognised qualification you need to work
in Child Care.
What does the course involve?
The Children’s Care Learning and Development QCF includes the following units:
- Promote Communication in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
- Engage in Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
- Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
- Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
- Understand Child and Young Person Development
- Promote Child and Young Person Development
- Understand How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People
- Support Children and Young People’s Health and Safety
- Develop Positive Relationships with Children, Young People and Others Involved in their Care
- Working Together for the Benefit of Children and Young People
- Understand How to Support Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People
- Context and Principles for Early Years Provision
- Promote Learning and Development in the Early Years
- Promote Children's Welfare and Well-being in the Early Years
- Professional Practice in Early Years Settings
- Support Children's Speech, Language and Communication
Plus further units from a wide choice depending on the area you choose to work in. Your trainer
assessor will guide you in your choice.
How long does it last?
Between 9 – 18 months
Where will I learn?
Induction usually takes place in the work place. You will have your own trainer assessor who will visit you in a work
placement such as a day nursery, crèche, playgroup or primary school. You will need to complete online seminars
that look at Curriculum planning, Observing Children and Safeguarding. These can accessed via the Moodle site..
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through work based practical tasks and through a portfolio of evidence you will build up proving
your underpinning knowledge and experience.
What does this lead to?
You can become a qualified Child Minder, Nursery Nurse or Youth and Community Worker. You can progress to an QCF Level
4 and into Higher Education via a Foundation Degree in Early Years.
