| Childcare NVQ Level 2
Is it for me?
If you want to work with babies, toddlers and young
children, learn about how they develop and the importance of
play, this course will give you practical experience in a
child care setting and a vocationally recognised
qualification.
What does the course involve?
The units in the Children’s Care Learning and Development
NVQ you have to cover include:
- Contribute to positive
relationships
- Help to keep children safe
- Support children’s development
- Use support to develop own
practice in children’s care, learning and development
- Prepare and maintain environments
to meet children’s needs
- Support children’s play and
learning Plus further units from a choice of
- Support the development of babies
and children under 3 years
- Support a child with disabilities
or special educational needs
- Contribute to the effectiveness
of teams
- Support children and young
people’s play
How long does it last?
Between 9 – 12 months
Where will I learn?
Induction takes place either in the work place or at one of
our training centres. You will have your own trainer
assessor who will visit you in a work placement such as a
day nursery, crèche, playgroup or primary school. To support
your learning you will need to attend further seminars
including Safeguarding Children and Children’s Health and
Well-being.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through work based practical tasks and
through a portfolio you will build up proving your
underpinning knowledge and experience.
What does this lead to?
You can become a qualified Child Minder or Nursery Assistant
and progress to an NVQ Level 3. You may progress into Higher
Education via a Foundation Degree in Early Years.
