Level 2 Diploma

You must achieve at least 44 credits. Credit Value at the side of unit number (in brackets).

You must do all of these units:

  • Unit 201 (2) Maintain and develop personal performance
  • Unit 202 (2) Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Unit 203 (4) Promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals
  • Unit 204 (5) Deliver basic treatments to animals
  • Unit 205 (3) Select and prepare accommodation for animals
  • Unit 206 (3) Maintain animal accommodation
  • Unit 207 (2) Control and restrain animals
  • Unit 208 (2) Moving animals between locations
  • Unit 209 (5) Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety

Plus one of either of the following groups:

  • Unit 210 (5) Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment
  • Unit 224 (2) Prepare feed for animals
  • Unit 225 (3) Provide feed and water to animals

Plus a minimum of 11 credits from:

  • Unit 210 (5) Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment
  • Unit 211 (4) Provide controlled exercise opportunities for animals
  • Unit 212 (4) Provide opportunities for animals to have freedom of exercise
  • Unit 213 (5) Train animals though basic training programmes
  • Unit 214 (3) Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of basic training programmes
  • Unit 215 (3) Welcome, receive and care for visitor to sites
  • Unit 216 (2) Carry out reception duties
  • Unit 217 (2) Handle payments from clients
  • Unit 220 (4) Prepare and groom animals
  • Unit 221 (3) Dry dogs and prepare their coat for styling
  • Unit 222 (2) Communicate information within the workplace
  • Unit 223 (2) Maintain and store records within the workplace
  • Unit 224 (2) Prepare feed for animals
  • Unit 225 (3) Provide feed and water to animals
  • Unit 228 (3) Load and unload animals for transportation
  • Unit 230 (3) Keep stock at required levels in a retail environment
  • Unit 231 (3) Process customer orders for goods in a retail environment
  • Unit 232 (5) Provide information and advice to customers in a retail environment
  • Unit 233 (5) Process payments for purchases in a retail environment
