Qualification Title: City and Guilds Level 1 Award/Certificate in Customer Service

Is it for me?
If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are looking at starting a college course in September, then this is the course for you. This 6 week course will provide you with an opportunity to look at preparing you for college. You will create a CV, complete college application forms, career planning and planning for your future. You will develop confidence and communication skills whilst participating in mock interviews, all of which are vital skills for college.

What will I do?
You will study towards a City and Guilds Award/Certificate in Customer Service. This short course provides an opportunity for you to prepare for college.

Practical activities and experiences would include:

  • Career advice and Guidance (IAG) with a careers advisor
  • Creating your own CV
  • Complete college application forms
  • Participate in mock interview sessions

Where will I learn?
You will attend classes at our premises in Nottingham where you will be allocated a tutor to guide and support you.

How often do I need to attend?
You will need to attend 6 sessions a week over 3 or 4 days, for up to 6 weeks.

Session times;

Nottingham Training Centre

Morning sessions 9.15am – 12.00pm

Afternoon session 1.00pm – 3.45pm

How long does the course last?
Your training course will be designed to meet your individual needs and will be delivered in a 6 week block. You will need to attend for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

How will I know what progress I am making?
Your course will be agreed with you at interview and then planned in detail during your first week on the course. Your progress will then be reviewed with you regularly to ensure you know how you are progressing throughout the course.

What are my next steps?

After you have successfully completed your course you could either;

  • Go to college to further your learning
  • Progress onto another appropriate 6 week course
  • Secure an Apprenticeship
  • Secure employment

What facilities are available at the Training Centre?

  • Learner chill out room with gaming console
  • A kitchen where you can make a drink or use the facilities to make a sandwich or heat up food you bring with you
  • Many of our training rooms are fully equipped with smart screens and up to date ICT facilities to promote active learning
  • You will be able to access full support with your qualification and ongoing Information Advice and Guidance (IAG). This includes Progression tutorials.
  • All our delivery staff (Tutors) hold, or are working towards, a Level 4 or Level 5 teaching qualification and have worked in the vocational area they train in.
  • A dedicated Safeguarding Manager who will support you with ANY issues
  • Dyslexia screening which enables us to meet your learning needs.
